President William Ruto Accelerates Bottom-Up Economic Transformation in Nyeri County

President William Ruto today affirmed the government's commitment to accelerating the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, a visionary initiative aimed at addressing the needs of the people at the grassroots level. During his visit to Nyeri County, the President inspected ongoing infrastructure and housing projects that are poised to transform the local economy, create jobs, and uplift the community.

The President visited the Ruring'u Affordable Housing Project in Nyeri Town, where the construction of 468 units is well underway. The ambitious project, which will provide affordable homes to many residents, also includes the establishment of a primary school and five blocks of shops, further contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.

“This project is a true representation of the Bottom-Up Agenda at work. It is not just about building houses, but creating opportunities for education, commerce, and better living conditions for our people,” President Ruto said. “These projects are designed to address the priority needs of our people, particularly in rural areas, while also creating sustainable employment and fostering economic growth.”

In addition to the housing project, President Ruto also inspected the ongoing work at Ruring'u Stadium. The stadium has faced delays due to a contract dispute, but the President announced that the issue had been resolved and that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) had now taken over the project to ensure its fast-track completion.

"The stadium is a key part of our commitment to promoting sports, recreation, and youth engagement across the country," the President said. "With the KDF’s involvement, we are confident that the stadium will be completed soon, providing a much-needed facility for the people of Nyeri and the entire Central region."

The President’s visit to Nyeri is part of a broader effort to monitor and oversee the progress of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, ensuring that it is effectively addressing the challenges faced by communities and promoting inclusive growth. The agenda has already led to the creation of thousands of jobs, particularly in rural areas, and continues to prioritize projects that meet the urgent needs of the population.

As the government continues to implement the agenda, President Ruto emphasized that the focus will remain on uplifting the lives of ordinary Kenyans by empowering them through initiatives that create jobs, promote affordable housing, improve infrastructure, and stimulate local economies.

“The success of these projects depends on the active participation of the people. We will continue working hand-in-hand with the community to ensure that we build a prosperous and self-sustaining nation from the bottom up,” President Ruto concluded.
