President William Ruto Highlights Key Development Milestones in Nyeri County, Announces Continued Reforms

President William Ruto today reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering on its promises to the Kenyan people as he flagged off multiple development projects in Nyeri County. Speaking at a series of events, the President highlighted key reforms aimed at strengthening economic growth and improving the welfare of citizens across the nation.

One of the most notable announcements was the ongoing transformation of the coffee sector, where the price per kilogram has seen a remarkable increase from Sh50 to Sh120. This price hike is part of broader agricultural reforms that are designed to enhance the livelihoods of farmers and improve the economic outlook for rural communities. "This is just the beginning," President Ruto said. "Our commitment to the agricultural sector, particularly coffee, remains unwavering, and this price transformation is already reflecting positively on the broader economy."

The President's visit also focused on energy and infrastructure development, with the launch of the Last Mile Connectivity Programme in Mwicwiri, aimed at improving access to electricity for rural communities. The initiative, worth Sh850 million, will connect 10,000 households in Nyeri County to the national power grid. President Ruto also announced an additional Sh550 million investment, ensuring that every household in Nyeri will have access to electricity in the near future.

"This initiative is a game-changer for many households here. Electricity is a key enabler of economic activities, from small businesses to education, and we are ensuring that no one is left behind in our journey to a more connected and prosperous Kenya," the President remarked.

The President also took the opportunity to inaugurate a new one-storey, 12-classroom tuition block at Narumoru Township Primary School, a vital addition to the county’s educational infrastructure. "We believe in investing in our children, as they are the future of this nation. This new school block will provide an improved learning environment for the students of Narumoru and contribute to raising the standards of education in Nyeri County," President Ruto said.

Further, President Ruto assessed the ongoing development of Narumoru Market, which is set for completion in one month. The market is part of the administration's broader plan to improve trade infrastructure and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the country. "Narumoru Market will provide a vital space for traders, promote local businesses, and create job opportunities. It's part of our plan to ensure that every Kenyan has the opportunity to succeed," he stated.

Later in the day, President Ruto addressed residents of Narumoru, reaffirming his government's commitment to social and economic progress. "The reforms we are implementing are already bearing fruit. From better prices for our farmers to improved access to electricity and education, we are building the foundation for a stronger, more resilient Kenya."

The President’s visit to Nyeri County highlights the continued implementation of his government’s development agenda, which focuses on key sectors such as agriculture, energy, education, and infrastructure. With significant investments already underway, President Ruto's administration remains steadfast in its mission to deliver on its promises and empower citizens across the country.
