President William Ruto has today expressed optimism for Kenya's economic future, citing significant strides in stabilizing the nation’s economy and enhancing the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans. Speaking after wrapping up his one-week development tour of Mt Kenya, the president reaffirmed the government's commitment to accelerating development projects aimed at fostering national growth and wealth generation.
“Our journey towards economic recovery has been marked by resilience, hard work, and determination,” President Ruto said. “Through the dedication of the Kenyan people, we have managed to stabilize our economy. Today, more Kenyans are able to make a decent living and contribute positively to the nation’s growth. But this is only the beginning. Our focus is now firmly on spurring development that will benefit even more citizens.”
During his tour of the Mt Kenya region, the president participated in several key events, culminating in the laying of the foundation stone for the Githunguri Modern Market. The market, expected to serve over 1,200 traders, will provide a modern platform for local entrepreneurs to conduct their business efficiently and contribute to the region's economic development.
“Githunguri Modern Market will not only provide a safe and conducive environment for traders, but it is also part of our broader vision to support and uplift small-scale traders across the country,” President Ruto stated. “The growth of small businesses is vital for the creation of jobs, fostering innovation, and ensuring that wealth is generated at the grassroots level.”
The president also praised the people of Central Kenya for their unwavering support of the government's agenda, particularly in rising above divisive politics that could undermine the country’s transformation efforts.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the people of Central Kenya for standing firm in the face of retrogressive politics that seeks to derail our development agenda,” President Ruto remarked. “Their resilience and commitment to progress are key to the success of our nation.”
The laying of the foundation stone at Githunguri is part of a larger push to modernize infrastructure and create a more conducive business environment in the region. The government is focused on expanding access to markets, enhancing trade, and ensuring that more Kenyans can prosper through entrepreneurial ventures.
“We are laying the groundwork for a prosperous future where every Kenyan, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive,” President Ruto concluded.
