PS Bitok Commissions New Classrooms at Kwa Njenga Primary School in Embakasi South, Thanks U.S. Government for Support

Education remains the cornerstone of national development, and the Ministry of Education is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that every child in Kenya has access to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education. On the first day of his fieldwork as Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Julius Bitok visited Kwa Njenga Primary School in Embakasi South, where he officially commissioned eight newly constructed classrooms and three modern ablution blocks, built with the generous support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

In his address, PS Bitok highlighted the crucial role of partnerships in achieving the government's educational goals, emphasizing the need for strong collaborations to uplift learning standards across the country. “Education is the backbone of national development, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has access to a quality education,” said Bitok. “Achieving this vision requires collective efforts, and we are deeply grateful for the support of willing partners who help us enhance education standards in our schools.”

The newly completed classrooms and ablution blocks at Kwa Njenga Primary School will significantly improve the learning environment for the school's growing number of students. The project, made possible by the U.S. Department of Defense, demonstrates the importance of international cooperation in advancing education.

PS Bitok expressed his gratitude to the U.S. government for its unwavering support, acknowledging Ambassador Marc Dillard, the U.S. Department of Defense, AFRICOM, and the Kenya-U.S. Security Liaison Office (KUSLO) for their invaluable contribution. “I would like to sincerely thank our partners, especially the U.S. government, represented by Ambassador Marc Dillard, for their dedication to strengthening education in Kenya,” Bitok remarked. “This partnership is an important step towards ensuring that our children have access to safe, well-equipped learning environments.”

Ambassador Marc Dillard, who was present at the commissioning ceremony, reaffirmed the U.S. government's commitment to supporting Kenya's educational initiatives. “We are proud to be part of this important initiative and to work alongside the Ministry of Education to help improve the quality of education in Kenya,” Ambassador Dillard said. “This partnership reflects our shared vision of a brighter future for the children of Kenya.”

PS Bitok concluded his remarks by emphasizing the Ministry of Education’s ongoing efforts to create more opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders who are committed to improving the country’s educational sector. “We look forward to continued collaboration with our partners, as we work together to empower our children with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life,” he said.

The commissioning of the new classrooms and facilities at Kwa Njenga Primary School is a testament to the power of international collaboration in enhancing education for all. The Ministry of Education remains dedicated to building a robust education system that provides every child with the opportunity to reach their full potential.
