PS Joseph Motari and MP Mathias Robi Fulfill Promise to Support Neema Robi's Heart Surgery

In a heartwarming display of community commitment, Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Joseph Motari, together with Kuria West Member of Parliament Mathias Robi, have fulfilled their promise to support Neema Robi, a 15-year-old student from Kubweye Mixed Secondary School in Kuria West Constituency, by covering her KES 1.3 million hospital bill for urgent heart surgery.

Neema, a Form 2 student, has been diagnosed with a severe heart condition that involves an opening between the left and right chambers of her heart. This condition causes the mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, resulting in significant health risks. Her doctors have recommended an immediate bypass operation, and the surgery will take place in India.

The two leaders, who had made the commitment during an Economic Empowerment Programme at Nyabohanse Shopping Centre in Kuria West, were moved by Neema’s plight and pledged their support to ensure she receives the life-saving treatment.

“When we learned of Neema’s condition, we knew we had to step in. Our responsibility as leaders is to ensure that no one in our community is left behind, especially when it comes to matters of life and health,” said PS Joseph Motari.

MP Mathias Robi also expressed his heartfelt commitment to Neema’s well-being:

“This is not just a political promise—it’s a promise made out of compassion and a desire to see our children thrive. Neema is the future of our community, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure she gets the medical attention she needs.”

The payment of the hospital bill, which covers all aspects of Neema’s surgery and treatment, was made directly to the hospital in India, securing her path to recovery.

Neema, who will be traveling to India soon for the surgery, expressed her deep gratitude for the support she has received from the leaders and the community.

“I am very grateful to PS Joseph Motari, MP Mathias Robi, and all those who have supported me. This surgery means so much to me and my family, and I hope to recover quickly so I can continue with my studies and make a positive contribution to society,” Neema shared.

Both Motari and Robi extended their best wishes to Neema, encouraging the young student to remain strong and hopeful as she undergoes treatment.

“We wish Neema a successful surgery and a speedy recovery,” added Motari. “We will continue to support her journey every step of the way.”
