The government has launched a multi -million forest restoration exercise targeting to rehabilitate Cherang'any forest ecosystem.

A fruit trees nursery project will be established at Chebara Agricultural Training Centre in Moiben-Kuserwo.

In his address, the Governor requested the CS to ensure that the community is involved in forest management while at the same time calling on the national conservator of forests to reign in on officers who mishandle members of the public, especially women harvesting firewood in the forests.

"The community should also be allowed to continue practising PELIS, a programme that encourages community participation in forest conservation and restoration by allowing farmers to cultivate land within young plantations,"said the Governor.
