TopHill Hospital Ensures Medical Safety at Eldoret City Marathon 2025




TopHill Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the North Rift region, played a critical role in supporting the success and safety of this year’s Eldoret City Marathon, held on Sunday, April 27th, 2025. The hospital deployed a well-coordinated, multi-disciplinary medical team to the event, ensuring swift and professional medical response throughout the marathon.

The team, led by Joseph Bor (Head of Marketing), Amona Chebet Kilel, and Mr. John Tabot, was stationed at strategic points along the race route and at the finish line to offer both preventative and emergency medical services. Medical personnel were fully equipped to handle a wide range of situations, from dehydration and minor injuries to more serious emergencies that can arise during endurance events of this scale.

“Our goal was to make sure every runner felt safe and supported throughout the marathon,” said Mr. Bor. “We had ambulances, paramedics, and doctors on standby, all working together to ensure quick response times and quality care. It was heartening to see our community come together for such a meaningful event.”

The Eldoret City Marathon, now considered one of the most prestigious races on the continent, attracted thousands of athletes — from elite international competitors to local fitness enthusiasts. The marathon’s broader mission is to promote health, environmental conservation, and talent development in the region known as the 'Home of Champions.'






The event was graced by several high-profile guests, including Race Patron Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei, Uasin Gishu County Women Representative and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. Also in attendance was Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi, who applauded the event’s organization and praised its impact on the local community. Marathon legend and Race Director Moses Tanui expressed his appreciation for the support teams, including TopHill Hospital, that contributed to the smooth and safe running of the marathon.

Throughout the day, TopHill’s team treated multiple runners for heat-related exhaustion, muscle cramps, and minor injuries, all while ensuring no serious incidents went unmanaged. The hospital also conducted post-race checkups for participants who requested medical evaluations.
