Trans Nzoia KYISA Team Flagged Off Ahead of Homabay Games

Trans Nzoia’s youth team heading to the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) Games in Homabay was officially flagged off today by Deputy County Secretary George Kisaka at the County Headquarters.
The games, which kick off tomorrow, will run from April 12 to 19 and will bring together top youth teams from across the country to compete in various sporting disciplines.
While addressing the teams during the flag-off ceremony at the Town Hall, Mr. Kisaka emphasised the importance of discipline and urged the athletes to carry themselves with honour and pride.
"You are not just representing yourselves—you are representing the entire county. We expect you to observe discipline and be focused on the task ahead. Go make us proud." Kisaka said.
The Chief Officer for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, Madam Jane Wachwenge, echoed the call for discipline and reminded the players of the bigger picture.
"You are ambassadors of our Governor George Natembeya, and the entire people of Trans Nzoia.Carry the county flag high. Play your hearts out, look after each other, and above all, uphold good conduct on and off the pitch." Wachwenge said.
She also wished the team success and encouraged them to embrace the spirit of teamwork and unity.
The county is fielding two teams—men’s football and volleyball—comprising youth aged between 18 and 23. The players have been training intensively at St. Joseph’s Boys High School in Kitale ahead of the national tournament.
The Trans Nzoia contingent is expected to travel to Homabay later today, ahead of the tournament’s official opening.
