A delegation from Kenya’s ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), met earlier today with Mr. Liang Anping, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Sub-Saharan African Affairs at the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in a high-level engagement aimed at enhancing diplomatic and party-to-party ties.
The UDA delegation, led by Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan, was received at the CPC headquarters where they were briefed on China’s political and economic model, the CPC’s governance structure, and the historical context of Africa-China relations.
During the meeting, the delegates were taken through China’s remarkable economic transformation over the past four decades, with emphasis on the CPC's role in shaping national policy, eradicating extreme poverty, and promoting innovation and infrastructure development.
Sen. Omar expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with Chinese officials and highlighted the significance of deepening ideological and developmental exchanges between African political parties and the CPC.
“Our engagement today reaffirms the longstanding bonds between China and Africa, rooted in solidarity, mutual respect, and shared aspirations for progress,” Sen. Omar said. “As the UDA, we are keen on learning from China’s governance experiences and exploring avenues for cooperation that can benefit our people.”
Both sides held discussions on future collaboration, including political training, youth empowerment programs, capacity building, and economic development projects. The parties underscored the importance of people-to-people and party-to-party exchanges as a way of fostering stronger bilateral relations beyond state diplomacy.
Mr. Liang Anping reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting African nations in their development journeys, noting that the CPC values the growing role of African political parties in shaping the continent’s future.
“China and Africa share a history of friendship and common development goals. Through continued dialogue and exchange, we can build a more just and inclusive global order,” Mr. Liang said.
The UDA delegation is on an official visit to China as part of a broader initiative to build international partnerships, learn best practices in governance, and attract investment and development cooperation.
The visit marks a continuation of China’s strategic engagement with African political movements, as Beijing seeks to solidify its influence on the continent through long-term diplomatic, economic, and ideological ties.
