University of Eldoret Swears In 12th Students’ Council




The University of Eldoret held a colorful and dignified swearing-in ceremony for its 12th Students’ Council on Friday, April 4, 2025. The event, attended by university officials, students, and invited guests, saw the formal inauguration of 27 newly elected School Representatives alongside 7 executive members of the University of Eldoret Students’ Organization (UESO).

Prof. Godfrey Netondo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Students Affairs), presided over the event on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot. In his address, Prof. Netondo congratulated the student leaders for upholding peace and order throughout the election process.

“I commend you for demonstrating maturity, discipline, and commitment to democratic values,” he said. “You now carry the mandate of thousands of your fellow students, and it is your responsibility to represent them with transparency, integrity, and a spirit of unity.”

Prof. Netondo underscored the importance of student leadership in shaping a vibrant academic environment and encouraged the council to build a strong and collaborative relationship with the University Management. He cautioned against divisive politics, urging the new council to instead promote inclusivity and constructive dialogue for the betterment of the university community.

Delivering his inaugural address, the newly elected UESO Chairperson, Mr. Collins Kimutai, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the student body. He outlined a forward-looking agenda anchored on unity, innovation, and transformative leadership.

“I am deeply honored to serve the students of the University of Eldoret,” said Mr. Kimutai. “We envision a future where student voices are heard, academic and social life is enriched, and our institution continues to thrive as a center of excellence.”

He assured the University Management of the council’s commitment to working collaboratively in support of student welfare, institutional growth, and strategic development.
