In light of recent misleading and unsubstantiated claims circulating on various social media platforms regarding the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) and Principal Secretary (PS) Anne Wang'ombe, it is imperative to provide clarity on these allegations and unequivocally address the matter to prevent the spread of false information.
The Women Enterprise Fund categorically rejects these baseless claims, which misrepresent its operations and the leadership of PS Anne Wang'ombe. These unfounded allegations have no merit, and we wish to emphasize that they are entirely misleading. The Women Enterprise Fund operates with the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and integrity, ensuring that its resources are used effectively to empower women economically in Kenya. As a Semi-Autonomous Government Agency, the Fund functions independently from the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, further underscoring its autonomy in managing operations.
Under the leadership of PS Anne Wang'ombe, the Fund has remained steadfast in its mission of supporting women entrepreneurs through accessible credit, training, and mentorship. PS Wang'ombe’s leadership has been instrumental in driving the Fund’s continued success and ensuring that its resources benefit the women they are intended for.
To further affirm our commitment to transparency, the Women Enterprise Fund will appear before the Parliamentary Special Funds Accounts Committee to respond comprehensively to queries raised by the Auditor General as part of the public audit process. This step is a crucial part of ensuring the public that the Fund is being managed appropriately and that all public funds are utilized effectively. The Fund is committed to protecting public resources and ensuring they serve the needs of the women they were allocated for.
We also wish to address anyone who may have purported evidence of misappropriation of the Fund’s resources. We encourage them to follow the correct legal processes and submit such evidence to the relevant authorities for investigation. Until such evidence is provided, we strongly urge individuals to cease making defamatory and unsupported claims. False information undermines the Fund’s work and damages the reputation of those dedicated to advancing women’s economic empowerment.
We also call upon the public to seek information from credible, authoritative sources, rather than relying on rumors and misleading claims. The Women Enterprise Fund remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable society through women’s economic development. Our focus continues to be on ensuring that women have the tools and resources they need to thrive and contribute to Kenya’s economic growth.
