Young Man Caught with Sacks of Bhang in Kaloleni as Police Step Up War on Drugs

A quiet afternoon in Nyalani village took a dramatic turn when police officers swooped in and arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with drug possession.

Emmanuel Mwanyae, a resident of the area, was found with four large sacks of bhang following a tip-off from vigilant members of the public. Officers from Kaloleni Police Station moved swiftly, apprehending the suspect and taking the drugs into custody as evidence.

“We received credible information and acted on it. Our officers found the suspect in possession of what we believe is a significant amount of narcotics,” said a source close to the investigation.

Mwanyae is now in custody as police finalize investigations ahead of his court appearance. The seized bhang will be presented in court as part of the evidence.

This incident comes amid heightened efforts by local authorities to crack down on the drug trade, especially in coastal regions where narcotics have long been a challenge for communities.

Locals have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the DCI’s anonymous tip line by dialing 0800 722 203.

“This shows what we can achieve when the community and police work together,” said one officer. “We want people to know they can speak out. Usiogope.”

As Mwanyae awaits his day in court, the case serves as a sobering reminder of how deeply drugs can affect young lives—and how critical community involvement is in the fight against them.
