Youth advocate and grassroots organizer Alfred Juma has formally declared his bid for the Ndivisi Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections, promising to deliver people-centered, accountable leadership.
In an exclusive interview, Juma said his decision to enter the political arena stems from years of witnessing underdevelopment and poor service delivery in Ndivisi Ward.
“I have witnessed first-hand the challenges facing residents — from deteriorating infrastructure and high youth unemployment to limited access to essential services,” he said. “My goal is to be a responsive and accountable leader who delivers on the promises made to the electorate.”
Juma, known for his role in community-driven initiatives across Bungoma County, outlined his key priorities which include improving road infrastructure, expanding access to clean water, strengthening healthcare services, and pushing for inclusive economic development.
At the heart of his campaign is youth empowerment through vocational training. Juma pledged to advocate for the establishment of more vocational colleges and technical training centers within the ward to equip youth with practical, employable skills.
“Our youth are full of potential, but many lack opportunities,” he said. “I am urging them to take advantage of vocational and technical training to secure meaningful employment or become self-reliant through entrepreneurship.”
He also committed to championing the inclusion of youth and women in governance, creating platforms to support small businesses, and addressing the structural barriers that hinder social mobility in the community.
“This is not just a political ambition — it’s a call to serve,” Juma emphasized. “My campaign is rooted in integrity, transparency, and the belief that local leadership must reflect the aspirations of the people.”
Although official campaigns are yet to be announced, Juma has already hit the ground running, holding community forums and engaging directly with residents in a bid to build trust and gather input for his policy agenda.
The Ndivisi Ward MCA seat is currently held by an incumbent expected to seek re-election. However, with growing calls for generational change and accountability, political observers believe Juma’s candidacy could gain traction, particularly among youth and first-time voters.
As 2027 approaches, Juma says he remains focused on laying a solid foundation for a campaign built on community trust, inclusivity, and practical solutions to long-standing local challenges.
“The time for rhetoric is over. What our people need is real, visible change — and I am ready to deliver that,” he concluded.
