Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Warns Youths Against Being Used By Politicians to Cause Violence
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara has warned youths against being used by politicians to cause violence.
Speaking to the press Kihara said youths should instead engage in constructive activities.
“I want to call upon politicians vying for different seats to stop using youths to cause violence since youths are the leaders of tomorrow and if they destroy the nation they will not have a spare country. Youths should instead be ambassadors of peace before, during, and after the general elections,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
Kihara noted that youths have always been used by politicians to cause violence and this time around it will be a thing of the past.
He further said that every candidate regardless of his or her political party has the right to campaign in the county.
He further said that leaders seeking any political seat should sell their manifestos without inciting residents.
“I want to give a stern warning to politicians who instead of selling their manifestos to the electorates are fond of dividing Kenyans based on their tribal and political affiliations, such people will be arrested and charged since we cannot stay mum while the security of our people is being compromised by self-centered individuals. Hate speech will not be tolerated,” he said.
The Uasin Gishu County commissioner assured residents of their security before, during, and after the forthcoming general elections noting that everything is in order and therefore no cause for alarm.
“I want to assure Uasin Gishu residents that their security is guaranteed and that we are set to provide security before, during, and after the general elections which are scheduled for August this year, there should not be any cause of alarm since Uasin Gishu is a peaceful County, ” says the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
Uasin Gishu is among the Counties that were badly affected by the 2007 post-election violence.
