58,514 Pupils Sit for KCPE and KPSEA in Uasin Gishu

29,472 candidates in Uasin Gishu are sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations this year.

Speaking to the press after opening the examination container in Eldoret the Principal Secretary of, the State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education, Ministry of Education Dr. Julius Ouma Jwan said no special case has been reported on the same.

“In Uasin Gishu 29, 000 pupils are sitting for KCPE and so far so good nothing bad has been reported since everything is going on as planned. We opened the container at exactly 6 in the morning as required,” she said.
15,101 boys while 14,371 are sitting for KCPE.

He noted that Uasin Gishu has 29, 042 students sitting for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams.

He noted that they have enhanced security to ensure that the exams run smoothly until the last day.

“We have beefed up security in all the exam centers in the county where each manager is accompanied by a security officer who will give maximum security to students sitting for exams,” she added.
He further said that there is a number of scripts for grade six examinations that have not been collected because (KPSEA) exam registration were done while in grade 3 and most private schools were closed due to the coronavirus.

“These schools closed down and learners moved to other schools, what we are going to do is to ensure the papers are kept securely and if we find any center having fewer centers we will give to them,” he added.
He said 52 centers in Turbo were affected.

He further warned school heads against transferring students to other schools for them to get better results.

“ That is an irregularity and we will not allow it to happen what we will do is to protect the learners to ensure they sit for the exams peacefully. We will do our investigations and we will know under what circumstances and we will take stern actions against those involved,” he added.


Uasin Gishu Director of Education Muriuki Harisson warned teachers and pupils against cheating saying anybody who will be found will face the full force of the law.

“I want to give a stern warning to teachers or students planning to engage in exam malpractices that they will be arrested and charged, the cost of cheating is very expensive, we want students to get marks that they have worked,” he said.

He noted that all class eight pupils who will sit for this year’s KCPE will transit to form one regardless of the marks that they will get.

“I want to assure all students who will sit for this year’s exams will be promoted to form one, as a government is to ensure that we have 100 percent transition,” said the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education.
