Roads, Transport and Public Works Committee Member Eng. Gideon Birir now says that his team is ready for the commencement of the upgrading of 64 stadium, one of the major flagship projects of the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
Eng. Birir led officials from his Department and the Eldoret Municipality team in an introductory meeting with the Consultants tasked to supervise works at the stadium.
Birir said,” We have deliberated on a roadmap as a team, on Monday we will hand over the project to the contractor and we expect the stadium to be completed within 15 months, we have a capable team to deliver on the project”.
On his part Chief Officer Roads, Transport and Public Works Barnabas Too said that upgrading the stadium is magnificent and will ensure athletes and other stakeholders benefit from the facility.
Mr. Too added that the project will provide an opportunity for young engineers, architects, and other professionals in Uasin Gishu to be able to learn and upgrade their skills from the consultancy team and public works team.
Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago while speaking to the press recently said the design of the facility had already been finalized
“We have finalized the designing, costing, and timelines for the construction of 64 Stadium. The tender shall soon be floated in accordance to the PPRA regulations for qualified bidders to forward their bids,” said the Uasin Gishu County governor while speaking to the press.
The County boss said the facility will cost Sh 1 billion.
