Governor Kenneth Lusaka Attends Imbalu Festival Ceremony 2024
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, along with a host of other distinguished dignitaries, has graced the official launch of the Imbalu Festival Ceremony 2024 at the Mutoto Cultural Heritage Grounds in Mbale City.
The event, which underscores the cultural importance of the Imbalu ritual, marks a significant occasion for the Bamasaaba and Bukusu communities in Kenya and Uganda.
The Imbalu ceremony, presided over by Uwelukoosi Jude Mike Mudoma, the Umukuuka III (Bamasaaba King), is a prominent cultural event occurring every even year. It serves as a rite of passage, marking the initiation of boys into manhood within these communities.
Governor Lusaka was accompanied by Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany, County Assembly Speaker Hon. Emmanuel Situma, and a selection of MPs including Jack Wamboka (Bumula), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), and Catherine Wambilanga (Woman Representative). The event also saw the presence of various Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), cultural leaders, and senior county officials.
The ceremony, celebrated for its rich traditions and cultural heritage, continues to play a crucial role in the preservation and promotion of local customs and values.
