Busia County Reports Significant Progress in Polio Immunization Campaign
Health officials in Busia County are celebrating a remarkable achievement in the ongoing five-day polio immunization campaign, with a reported vaccination rate of 64.9% over the past two days. This equates to a total of 181,449 children vaccinated against polio within the county.
The Department of Health and Sanitation has been proactive in its supervisory efforts, conducting door-to-door visits in remote and hard-to-reach areas to ensure comprehensive coverage and that no child is left unvaccinated.
Dr. Susan Outa, Chief Officer for Public Health and Sanitation, who has been overseeing operations in Teso North Sub-County, expressed her optimism regarding the campaign’s progress. “We are committed to maintaining this momentum and achieving full coverage across Busia County,” she stated.
The immunization drive reflects the county’s dedication to eradicating polio and safeguarding the health of its children. Health officials urge all parents to participate and ensure their children receive the vaccine, highlighting the critical importance of immunization in preventing the disease.
As the campaign continues, the county remains focused on reaching every child, with officials confident that the initiative will lead to a polio-free future for the region.
