96 individuals who were involved in Thursday’s Chaos in Eldoret Town Arraigned in Court
96 individuals who were involved in last week’s acts of lawlessness that marred Eldoret town were on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret law courts.
The group was accused of obstructing county enforcement officers in the due course of duty to get rid of unlicensed traders by throwing crude weapons and causing injuries, destruction of property and looting shops on November 17, 2022.
While appearing before Eldoret chief magistrate Hon. Dennis Mikoyan, the eighty eight individuals pleaded guilty and were sentenced to three months imprisonment.
The six accused persons denied the charges and the court directed that they be remanded until December 5, 2022 when their case shall be heard.
Investigations are still underway and more suspects involved in last week’s incident are expected to be arraigned tomorrow
Women and under aged children who were rescued on the streets are currently at the Uasin Gishu rescue centre undergoing rehabilitation.
