Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok Commissions Sh 18 Million modern medical waste incinerator
Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok commissioned Sh18M modern medical waste incinerator set up at the Lodwar County Referral Hospital.
The facility will boost management of hazardous waste from public facilities and private hospitals at a fee.
“The incinerator has the capacity to handle 12.5 tonnes of waste a day, is eco-friendly emitting non-toxic waste and replaces a much smaller unit which has been serving the hospital,” he said.
He says his administration will continue to improve healthcare services offered at LCRH, including upgrading infrastructure, recruitment of more specialists and better governance to meet standards needed for elevation to a level 5 hospital.
