Kakamega High School Clossed Down Indefinitely
Kakamega High School has been closed down indefinitely.
According to the principal Gerald Orina this after the court ordered not to charge parents Sh 21 million for the construction of the burnt dormitory.
“Following the court decision to suspend the payment for the cost of reconstructing the burnt down dormitory and an Executive Board meeting today, we regret to announce that we cannot open school as had been earlier announced,” said the Kakamega High School principal.
He reiterated that the razed down dormitory hosted 560 students on the upper floor and a similar number on the ground floor and that it will impossible to accommodate over 1000 students who have no dorm.
“We had intended to start renovating the dormitory but we are now unable because we have no alternative source of funds.
The school will therefore communicate an opening date after the court process is exhausted on 30th November 2021. Sorry for any inconvenience caused,” he added.
This comes after Kakamega High Court barred Kakamega High School from charging students Sh21 million for fire damage pending the determination of a case filed by a parent.
