Meru Senator Mithika Linturi Released On Ksh.2M Cash Bail In Incitement Case
Linturi was presented before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Ednah Nyaloti on Tuesday morning but did not take plea.
Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has been released on a cash bail of Ksh.2 million or Ksh.5 million bond with a surety of a similar amount in a case where he is accused of making inciteful remarks.

The court declined to grant an application by the prosecution seeking to detain Linturi for seven days pending conclusion of investigations.
“I am satisfied that the prosecution doesn’t have compelling reasons to limit the respondent’s right to liberty,” said Magistrate Nyaloti.
Linturi was, however, directed not to interfere with witnesses in the case. He is further required to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) once a week.
The Senator was arrested in an Eldoret hotel on Sunday morning following a directive by Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji to Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai.
Mutyambai was instructed to investigate the matter and forward the findings to the DPP’s office by January 14.
Linturi has meanwhile, been under fire over the Saturday comments, which have been construed as advocating for tribal segregation.
The case will be mentioned on January 26.
