BOOST FOR YOUNG ROVERS FC AHEAD OF BUSIA BRANCH LEAGUE KICK OFF
Young Rovers FC from Otimong have received a boost from Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong ahead of the start of the 2021/2022 Busia Branch League Season.
The team received a car washing machine and a water tank which will go along way in helping the club generate income to help defray expenses and other incidentals.
” The cost of running a football club is very enormous. Teams need to carter for players transport and stipends, and payment of referees fees; there is therefore need to look for income generating activities to sustain such clubs,” he said.
The Governor urged the team players together with the management to make good use of the machine to be able to support their team fully in terms of meeting their financial obligations.
He also advised the team not to be used by politicians to cause violence during this electioneering period, noting that peace is the cardinal rule in any democratic society.
” With barely two days to the end of mass registration by the Independent, Electoral and Boundary Commission, I call upon county residents aged 18 years and above who have not registered as voters to do so to enable them participate in electing leaders of their choice,” he emphasized.
Team manager, Pastor David Gitau thanked the Governor for the kind gesture, noting that it will assist the club in meeting some of its financial obligations.
Club chairman Mzee Elseyo Namuju said they will utilize the car washing machine prudently to help them meet urgent needs like paying the referees and marking the field when they host other teams.
