NEW DAWN AS UASIN GISHU COUNTY BEGINS NEW HOUSING PROJECT
Uasin Gishu County Government through the Department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development has been in discussions to kick start the affordable housing project and today the Director Housing Ms. Nelly Jerotich joined by the Project Resident Engineer Mr. Benjamin Maiyo handed over Macharia Estate where the department intends to put up state of the art modern housing facilities to the contractor.
Ms. Jerotich confimed the Department’s commitment to immediately begin construction of three storey 1 and 2 bedroom houses at Macharia Estate a flagship project of H. E Governor Jackson Mandago’s administration.
Eng. Benjamin Maiyo asked the contractor to ensure that quality work was done within the stipulated time frame as provided in the Bill of Quantities.
“We are constructing 380 units but will start with 20 units in the first phase. The demand for the houses is enormous and this will transform the livelihoods of Uasin Gishu residents . We have already secured the estate with a permanent perimeter wall” said Ms. Jerotich.
The first phase of the project is set to be completed in 6 months.
