Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Nominations Were Not Free and Fair-Ambassador Julius Bitok
Uasin Gishu UDA gubernatorial aspirant Ambassador Julius Bitok now says the party’s nominations were not free and fair.
Bitok said the exercise was marred with massive rigging and violence.
“Hello friends, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to you all for your support during the UDA nominations in Uasin Gishu County, Asante sana. The People of Uasin Gishu County should know that the nominations were not free and fair and the exercise was just a public relations exercise,” said.
He noted that Some corrupt party officials had already predetermined the people they wanted to be nominated and the party leader should know that the party is being run by cartels who want to divert the will of the people.
“There’s a cartel of corrupt UDA party officials who who have taken over the party without the knowledge of the party leader. The said cartel had already decided whom they wanted and they aided the process to favour certain candidates,” he added.
He said that all the Presiding officers and clerks were supporters of particular candidates.
“The ballot papers and boxes were not secured and some people went to mark them in their houses and in some instances the results transmitted in the tallying centres differed with what was declared at polling stations,” he said.
Bitok says some candidates operate criminal gangs which have been attacking and threatening other candidates. Despite reporting the incidents of attacks to the police, no action has ever been taken against the said them.
“I have rejected the results and has filed the petition to the tribunal. I hope the tribunal will order a repeat of the nomination exercise,” he said.
