Shock as Two People Found With 700 Kilograms of uninspected meat in Uasin Gishu
Police in Eldoret has arrested two people after being found with 700 Kilograms of uninspected meat in Kipkenyo, outskirts of Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County.
According to Uasin Gishu Deputy County commander, Zacheus Ngeno the meat was found in an isolated house in Kipkenyo on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
“This morning our officers who were on patrol acted to information that in an isolated house in Kipkenyo there was a caucus of meat. They entered the house and found meat behind us which is believed to have been slaughtered by two cows which were either sick or dead since we cannot confirm whether they were sick or dead or not, “the Uasin Gishu deputy County commander said.
He noted that Two suspects were arrested and will be charged in a court of law.
“The officers on arrival there found some two people who were actually setting the meat for sale. The two were arrested and the meat brought to the police station while investigations are ongoing,” Ngeno added.
He reiterated that the public health officers who accompanied the officers confirmed that the meat was not inspected and therefore was unfit for human consumption.
“Even from the smell that we can feel around here it’s not feet for human consumption,” the Uasin Gishu Deputy County commander.
“We want to give a warning to unsuspecting dealers or businessmen who may
receive meat from vendors who are not legalized to sell meat or who have not slaughtered the meant at designated slaughterhouses which are distributed within town. They should make sure that the meat is inspected,” he added.
