Ruto’s UDA Party asks for female journalists only to cover Nyayo Stadium event
The coalition has urged media houses to deploy an all-woman crew to cover the event
The Kenya Kwanza Coalition led by Deputy President William Ruto is on Friday scheduled to host a women conference at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
And in a rare condition for press coverage of the event, the coalition has urged media houses to deploy an all-woman crew to cover the event.
The decision to ask that female journalists cover the event, according to the coalition, is part of celebrating the role women play in various fields.
“We encourage your Media House/Online News Blog to deploy an all Women Crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important role played by Women in all sectors,” UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae said in a media invite.
The signing of the Kenya Kwanza Women Charter is set to take place at the event to be attended by the coalition’s presidential flag bearer William Ruto.
This comes days after the launch of the UDA Women’s League at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday.
During the launch of the UDA Women’s League, Ruto said his party is banking on the support of women to win the August 9 polls.
“UDA is a women’s party. It has the largest representation of women across the board. All opinion polls indicate UDA is the most popular party in Kenya and has a record majority of women,” said Ruto
