57 HOUSEHOLDS BENEFIT FROM THE MWIBONA WATER PROJECT FIRST PHASE
In his continued efforts to ensure that every homestead in Vihiga gets access to clean and safe water, Vihiga Governor Hon. Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo today launched the Mwibona water project that will see locals benefit largely from the water reservoir.
While addressing residents at Esiandumba Primary School grounds after the exercise, Dr. Ottichilo stated that the project is powered by solar panels to save on electricity costs.
“We’ve had challenges in the past due to power outages and high electricity bills, the reason as to why in this project we invested largely in solar energy for continous provision of water to our people,” Said the Governor.
The County Boss also said that his government had spent Kshs. 4.7M on the project, adding that Mwibona is among projects that had stalled for quite sometime since it’s launch in 2015.
On his part, Chief Officer Environment Dr. Richard Boiyo iterated that the project was funded by the Climate Change Fund, appreciating residents for turning up in large numbers to endorse its commencement during public participation.
