Royal starlets’ manager David Oduor has praised his side for earning a promotion to the Kenya women premier league.
Speaking exclusively to Uasin Gishu news moments after winning his last match against Nyuki starlets, the elated coach said it has taken lots of commitment and resilience to rise to the top tier.

“It was so tough at the beginning of the season, the competition this season was so high and teams had quality players unlike last season. We thank God for being with us throughout the season. If it were not for God’s mercies, honestly, we wouldn’t have come this far.” he said.

Oduor says that his side is determined and ready to compete well in the premier league and prove doubters wrong.
“The premier league dream has been in each and every player, we may reinforce areas where we are weak but we will take every game at a time,” he said.

Royal starlets who got promoted to the division one last season, was on the run to clinch the title before Bunyore starlets scooped the title on the last day of the season.

“We were on the verge of winning the zone on our maiden stub to women division one but we lost the race to the Vihiga based team who will now be taking our slot as we replace them in the WPL,” he said.

Half-way into the season the club was in the brink of collapsing as a section of the club members revolted and bolted out. When asked about this, Oduor said it was a tough and trying moment but brushed it as a non-issue now since the club had overcome the temptation.

“Sometime we may have to disagree to agree, we parted ways with some of our members due to ideological differences but that is water under the bridge for now.” he said
The Trans Nzoia county based team will be the second team to be promoted to the top the premier league after Trans Nzoia Falcons and Oduor says his team is not coming to spoil the party.

“Our neighbors are a good side, we recognize they have talented players and that just shows how the county is blessed with plenty of talents. We are here to provide another platform for many more talents. We are not in competition but to complement one another to bring glory to the county.” he added.

Royal starlets will face a side from zone A in a playoff to crown the overall division one champion as both teams will earn direct promotion to the premier league.

The second placed teams from both zones will go for promotion playoff where the winner will also get promoted.
