All Set For Tuesday’s Elections- Uasin Gishu County Commander Ayub Ali
Uasin Gishu County commander Ayub Ali now says everything is set for Tuesdays general elections.
Speaking to the press Ali said they are ready for the voting exercise and that all the voting materials are ready ahead of the elections.
“We have already received the ballot papers in the county and we have distributed them in the constituencies tallying centers. We have distributed the remaining materials to all the voting centers in the county for adequate preparations,” said Gitonga.
Ali assured the residents of adequate security during the entire voting period affirming the police prepared to ensure everyone follows the rules and peace is maintained.
“So far no cases of insecurity have been reported and we hope that it will be this way until the entire exercise has come to an end. We have come up with a 5 minutes response time whereby the police will take to action within 5 minutes when called upon. Patrol cars have also been deployed in all parts of the county to enable residents have quick access to the law enforcers in case political unrest emerges while voting,” added Gitonga.
Gitonga further called upon the youth to continue maintaining peace until the end of the entire election period saying that they are the most vulnerable in case of violence.
“I congratulate all the youth for the unity they have showcased in the past two months and I encourage them to continue with the same spirit of cohesiveness. This vice known as violence must come to an immediate end and who is the best group in eradicating this if not the youth?” Gitonga said.
Uasin Gishu County has a total of 450,055 registered voters with 868 polling stations.
