Kibet speaking to the press described Ruto as a jovial, God-fearing, talented and hardworking man as evident when he started a small business project of raring chicken which Ruto could sell at railways crossing to pay his school fees.

“We want to congratulate the deputy president William Samoei Ruto for being elected as the Country’s president as his classmate I am proud of him since he had leadership qualities from the onset,” said Kibet.

Esther Cherogon, who also happened to be Ruto’s classmate states that Ruto’s leadership role was evident since Ruto’s childhood at Kamagut primary school during debates which translated to excellent academic performance.

According to Julius Kimosop Borr, who happened to be Ruto’s classmate in Kapsabet High school for ‘A’-level; Kimosop acknowledges that he met Ruto from his former Fort-Jesus missionary school currently known as Wareng High school.

Borr and Ruto later joined Nairobi University in 1992 where he started developing his political career when Ruto alongside Cyrus Jirongo formed a youth movement for K.A.N.U in support of the late president Daniel Moi.

According to Borr, the president-elect was fast elected as the Eldoret North constituency from 1997 Up to 2013, when Ruto was elected through a joint ticket with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Borr recommends several development projects including the establishment of more learning institutions in the region.
