Chairman of the Council for Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) North Rift region Abubaka Bini now want the CS Education George Magoha to increase the second term calendar by two weeks.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town Bini said this will help candidates complete their syllabus due to the time that was lost during the electioneering period.

“We want to humbly urge the CS Education George Magoha as the schools are opening today to increase the Second term calendar by at least two weeks which were lost during the electioneering period,” said Magoha.
“If the school calendar will not be increased to might lead to students performing dismally in their National Exams slated for November,” added the Chairman of the Council for Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) North Rift region.

The cleric argues that the time lost is vital to every child’s development since their lives
depends on this.

“Education is the key to everything. Students cannot lose two weeks then they sit for exams. Chances they do not do well will ruin their futures yet they are the pillars of tomorrow. Let the professor add more time to class 8 and form 4 pupils so that they can prepare well for their respective finals exams. Bini added.

On the Competence Based Curriculum CBC, Bini said there is a need for a committee of Experts to go through the CBC Curriculum so as to enhance their chances of self-employment.

This comes after the Kenya Kwanza Coalition during their campaign period said that they would replace the CBC curriculum when elected.

“We are pleading with the president-elect William Ruto to form a committee of experts to look into this matter and not abolish it completely,” he added.

National Parents Association chairperson Nicholas Maiyo supported the same to allow adequate time for learning and preparations for national examinations later in the year.

“The extension will compensate for the number of days lost during the electioneering period to enable parents, teachers, and learners to prepare adequately. The CS Education should look into this matter seriously,” the Chairman of the Council for Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) North Rift region said.
