Education Cabinet secretary Prof. George Magoha has hit out at a Migori principal for sending away students over fees areas.

Speaking at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret, Prof. Magoha said it’s unfortunate for principals to enjoy punishing children by sending them back home for fees in these hard economic times.

“It is sad that a principal of a certain school in Migori County sends his students home due to lack of school fees this is uncalled for and stern actions will be taken against him.

Magoha said the Gathika girl’s high school principal should have called PTA meeting as a way to reach parents before sending home children.

“I am now ordering the PS education to ensure that the children must be intercepted and sent back to school as soon as possible. We will not allow such to continue,” Magoha added.

The CS urged parents to at least make an effort to pay school fees or communicate to principals if not in a position to do so.

“I know we are in a hard economic times but I am calling upon parents to at least be paying part of the fees for the smooth running of the school since schools cannot run without money,” he added.

On the construction of CBC classrooms, Magoha said over 90% of the classrooms are complete across the country Central region being on 100% as Rift Valley region closes to completion.

“We are focused in delivering classrooms of CBC and of
the 10,000 classrooms we have done 9,000 classrooms and for the second set we are at 90 percent only ten percent to go . We are sure we will meet thee dateline,” said the Education CS.
He says that the remaining classrooms will be completed by Monday next week.

“Most of the remaining classrooms are at roofing level and it
will deliver towards the end of next week or latest the other week Monday so that if and when the new government takes over its gets a clean and new house without broken chairs, pot where they can plan going forward,” he added.
