Governor Wisley Rotich Holds His First Meeting
Governor Wisley Rotich today held lunch meeting with staff from all departments at the County Headquarters.
The meeting is the first official engagement with staff from all departments by the governor since he assumed office as the new head of the county .
Governor Rotich called for efficiency from the staff while at the same time asking them to be diligent in their work.
“I want you to adopt a clean desk policy where work is cleared within set timelines,” he said, “you must win the confidence of our people.Let us also avoid wastage.”
He warned staff against approving payments for shoddy projects adding that the vice wouldn’t be tolerated, adding that he made promises to the people during his campaigns which must be met.
“You must only pay for work done. If you approve payment for poor workmanship, you will be answerable. And again, the poorly done things will affect you even in your retirement. If a poor theatreis constructed in a facility at your home and you give it a clean bill of health for selfish gain, remember you will need it when you retire. All staff from the Ward level should be involved henceforth,” he added.
He assured the staff of regular and timely pay of their salaries. “We will also pay our contractors on time. They should however do one job at a time,” he said.
He asked the County Public Service Board to conduct an audit of all staff. Present were CPSB chair Michael Lelit and County Secretary Paul Chemuttut.
