Bishop Kimengich Faults Rachel Ruto’s Monthly Prayer Meeting
Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich has faulted the first lady, Rachael Ruto`s decision to conduct prayers in the state house once per month.
He says the move is uncalled for and will make other denominations feel that they are left out.
Speaking to the press, Bishop Kimengich said that conducting prayers in the state house shall be a violation of the right of worship among other denominations.
“Conducting public prayers in the state house meant for the country`s affairs which may exempt other religions in Kenya will be a great imbalance and violation of the right to worship. Let us ensure that all religions are included so that no one may feel left out, ” said Kimengich.
This comes after Rachael Ruto, the wife of President William Ruto said they will be holding prayer ceremonies month after month to give thanks to God for answering their prayers.
President William Ruto and his wife on Sunday held a thanksgiving prayer service at State House Nairobi.
President William Ruto was recently elected as Kenya’s president in the just concluded presidential elections.
He defeated the opposition leader Raila Odinga who was vying non an Azimio La Umoja Party ticket.
Kimengich also urged the government to lay down measures to prevent the entry of Ebola epidemic which is spreading at a high rate currently in the neighboring country, Uganda.
“I am calling upon the government`s intervention in the prevention of Ebola epidemic`s prevalence in our country through testing migrants from Uganda to make sure their status is known, ” said Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop.
