Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Hosts Delegation From IMARA
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley received a delegation from the Integrated Management of Natural Resources for Resilience in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (IMARA).
IMARA seeks to increase the resilience of vulnerable households to climate-change-related shocks through diversified livelihoods and improved natural resource management and use in the ASAL counties.
The team was led by Patrick Ole Twala, Senior Advisor, Environment and Climate Change. Embassy of Sweden.
The program under World Vision is supported by Sweden. In Elgeyo Marakwet we have identified insecurity-prone areas to be considered in the partnership.
109 students from Sambirir, Endo, Emsoo, and Embobut Wards will be sponsored in different technical institutions in our county to promote peace and provide them with alternative sources of earnings once they have acquired their skills other than livestock production which has been fuelling conflicts in the region.
The program also aims at increased access to suitable financial products and services for targeted communities, including youth which resonates well with our Wezesha Vijana plan which aims to empower our youth.
