COUNTY TO GIVE KSH 120 MILLION BURSARY TO NEEDY LEARNERS
The County Government of Kakamega will from next week start issuing bursary funds to needy and deserving students to facilitate payment of their school fees.
Speaking in Shinyalu Sub-County at a burial of the late Pastor Lawrence Abung’ana, Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayub Savula said Governor Fernandes Barasa’s administration is committed to supporting less fortunate families in the society to enable their children access education.
“We shall from next week commence issuance of Kshs. 2 million bursary per ward to partial and total orphans as well as children from very poor backgrounds to ensure they have uninterrupted access to education just like any other child in the County,” the Deputy Governor said.
Savula noted that County Administrators will work hand in hand with the respective area Members of County Assembly to identify the needy and deserving cases before presenting their names for a further vetting process.
Savula further revealed that the County Administration will initiate a process that will see both the County and National Government’s partner to tarmack Kambi ya Mwanza – Kambiri – Lunyu – Rondo – Shinyalu junction road,
to enhance communication in the Sub-County.
The Deputy Governor announced that Governor Barasa has a plan to construct and fully equip a health facility at Mukhuru Community Area to address the needs of the residents with regards to healthcare and implored all elected leaders in Kakamega to come together and share ideas on how to foster development across the County through better service delivery to the electorates, regardless of their political affiliations.
