ENSURE YOUR WORK IS ABOVE BOARD- LUSAKA TELLS CHIEF OFFICERS
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka has called on all accounting officers to ensure their dealings are above board warning that every officer will carry their own cross if found culpable of any offence.
Governor pointed out that some civil servants had taken advantage of the transition period and engaged in dubious deals.
He however assured civil servants that he will not engage in witch hunt just because some of them didn’t support his election.
“I want to assure you that there is no need to panick, because as long as you are doing what is right nobody will be victimised for the political stand they took in the last elections. Make sure that everything you engage is above board because the law will always catch up with you” Said Lusaka
Lusaka said as a career civil servant he had experience that civil servants are sometimes forced by circumstances to support a particular candidate against their will.
” I know some of you opposed me with vigour in the last campaigns, but again I can’t blame you knowing all that was for your survival ,” added Lusaka
He emphasized that chief officers and head of directorates were key because they were the technocrats who run the day to day programs.
Speaking during a meeting with all chief officers and head of directorates in his office Lusaka told all officers to seriously get back to work as the time for elections is over, warning against laxity by civil servants saying moving forward performance contracting will be re-introduced.
