Automating services at Technologies Unit at the Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH)

Elgeyo Marakwet County government officially opened their Health Products and Technologies Unit at the Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH).

The unit will act as a command centre that will be used to coordinate procurement, management of health products and technologies in our county.

“It was equipped by Afya Ugavi, a USAID funded project that provides comprehensive technical assistance to strengthen health supply chain,” he said.

The project will connect technical solutions, experts, and proven commercial processes to promote efficient and cost-effective health supply chains where with a click of a button, the status of our drug uptake in respective health facilities and store levels can be determined. This will ensure that restocking is done timely.

“It will also end procurement delays. Our drugs will also be supplied on need basis depending on major different causes of health issues in different parts of our county,”

Health facilities will also be supplied with what they requested unlike in the past where cases of delivering wrong supplies to facilities were recorded.

The team was received by County Secretary Paul Chemmuttut.
