Uasin Gishu Director of Education Message to School Heads

Uasin Gishu Director of Education Muriuki Harisson has warned school heads against sending students home for fees.

Speaking after opening CBC Classrooms at Wareng Secondary School Harrison said the school heads should instead sit down and discuss with parents how they will pay fees.

“Concerning fees payment, we have asked school heads not to send students home for fees but instead call parents to have discussions and agree on when and how they will pay the fees. Those parents who don’t have money can bring goats, firewood, or anything he has which a teacher can take and put into the student’s fee,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.

He further called on abled parents to pay their fees on time for easy running of the school.

“It’s the responsibility of parents to pay fees since they eat use water and electricity it’s not a must to pay all, some of the schools have pay bills where a parent can pay fees in small bits,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.

He however said that the County is ready for the enrolment of Junior Secondary schools.

“The construction of face one CBC classrooms is complete in both private and public secondary schools which many of them have constructed and we are ready to receive students for junior secondary,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education while speaking to the press.

He says the County has over 150 private schools which have constructed a laboratory because that is a minimum requirement for the establishment of a junior Secondary school.

Uasin Gishu Director of Education said for Junior Secondary private schools parents will be forced to pay for their children’s fees.
“I also want to urge school heads to ensure that they use the money meant for the construction of classrooms for the same purpose and should not be diverted to any other function,” said Harrison.

Private schools that have constructed laboratories and are ready for CBC include potters academy, testimony, and Valley Baptist among others.
He further said that the County is ready for the National examinations for classes six and eight where preparations are in top gear.
