Political Leaders Make Submissions on Conferment Eldoret Municipality to City Status

Public participation on the conferment of Municipality of Eldoret to city status has come to an end with the political leaders led by H.E the Governor Hon. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, the County speaker Hon. Phillip Muigei and the Members of the County assembly presenting their submissions.

Governor Bii expressed his full support and stated that with elevation of Eldoret to city status there will be realization of more jobs, increase in investors , more markets opportunities for Agricultural products and tremendous infrastructure development and industrialization.

The speaker Hon. Phillip Muigei also mentioned that Eldoret city is a gateway to other cities and key player as a centre of excellence in sports and medical facilities for the Northrift Region.

In attendance were other political leaders including, leader of majority Hon. Julius Sang, leader of Minority Hon. Francis Muiya who also reiterated their support to confer Eldoret to the fifth city.

The stakeholder engagement which has been running since 24th of October, has seen hundreds of presenters give positive views, submissions and recommendations to the ad-hoc committee chaired by Mr. Willy Kenei who also serves as Chair, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and industrialization Uasin Gishu chapter.

The Ad-hoc committee will table the report and submissions to the County Executive who will forward to the County assembly then to the senate who finally present to the president to give charter for city status.
