I Will Reclaim All Grabbed Land-Governor Natembeya
Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has vowed to reclaim grabbed land and those whose leases have expired.
Speaking after leading a team of county staff, including CEC Lands Janerose Mutama and surveyors, on a familiarization tour of county installations today, the governor lamented that individuals had seized public lands that could have been used to build the county milling plant and low-cost housing.
“Originally, Trans Nzoia residents were to build public facilities on these plots of land, but they have been taken. We want to ensure residents enjoy what is theirs,” said Natembeya.
At the same event, CEC Lands Janerose Mutama said the county is reserving lands whose leases have expired for public use.
As a result, she has already written to the relevant offices objecting to any other lease regarding individual tenants.
She called on members of the public who have information about seized property to contact the relevant authorities.
Before making payments on land, she urged individuals to contact the department of land for information on its legal status.
