Governor Natembeya’s Government Poised to Improve disabled people’s living conditions
County Government of Trans-nzoia is poised is commitment to improving disabled people’s living conditions.
Speaking while marking the World’s Braile day Chief Officer for Gender and Sports Dr. Roselyn Nasiebanda expressed appreciation for parents who raised children with disabilities despite the challenges they faced.
“As a result of the stigma attached to having a child with a disability, some parents lock their disabled children inside their homes, this is uncalled for and those who will be found will face the full force of the law. Everyone has the right to life, education just like their normal counterparts,” she said.
The Chief officer noted that the County government led by governor Natembeya the county will provide wheelchairs, Braille machines, and walking sticks for disabled residents.
“As part of Governor George Natembeya’s agenda, my department will reach out to people living with disability, empower them financially so that they don’t depend on anyone for their upkeep, and further ensure Trans Nzoia residents who are disabled receive equal treatment just like their normal counterparts,” she added.
The CO reiterated the commitment of Governor Natembeya’s administration to fulfilling the campaign pledges.
“I want to assure you that our able governor will fufliff all the promises he made during the electioneering period and as he has always said its time to work and not jokes.In the next five years Trans-Nzoia will be on another level,” she noted.
The Director of Gender, Mr. Robert Kibii, said that there has been no allocation for such events for the past five years. The current government, however, has included money for the disabled in the supplementary budget.
