Collins Kipleting alias Rengstar from Sugoi who impersonated deputy president Rigathi Gachagua now wants him to meet with him.

He says he wants to ask for forgiveness personally.

“I want to humbly ask the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua alias Riggy G. to allow me to meet him so that I can ask for forgiveness since the reason as to why I impersonated him is because he wanted to be famous,” said Rengster while speaking to the press.

He said he wanted to use the page to popularize his music.

He was arraigned on 18th December 2022 at Milimani Law Court, Nairobi.
He pleaded guilty and was fined 50,000 or 7 months in jail.

His parents were unable to pay the money due to their low income which led to friends chipping in for his release.

Before Impersonating the deputy president his page was then with only 150 followers and shot to more than 14,000 before being arrested after he changed the name from Reng Star to HE Rigathi Gachagua.

He said he is depressed after committing the crime and people are now calling him a fraudster.

The Kalenjin music star said the post that put him in trouble was that the one he was requesting money to help the needy.

“One day I was just idle and decided to post my bank account requesting money, so it made the public and DCI notice it was not the deputy president that is when I was arrested,” revealed Kipleting.

However, Reng Star has urged youths to avoid impersonating others who had already built their names and instead work hard to reach their level without using shortcuts.

“I want to call upon deputy president Riggy G to support my career by helping me buy musical instruments such as a recording studio ti improve my livelihoods,” he said.
