People behind the Grabbing of the Maridadi Cattle Dip Put On Notice
Lands CEC Janerose Mutama has asked the persons behind the grabbing of the Maridadi cattle dip to surrender it to the county.
The facility serves hundreds of residents, and she said it was wrong to claim ownership of it.
Taking public land would not be tolerated under Governor George Natembeya’s administration, she said.
In Maridadi, the CEC said resolving the conflict between the community and the person who claims ownership of the cattle dip is in the public’s interest.
As a result, the county administration was looking into ways to ensure that both parties were protected in terms of their rights.
During the meeting, she said that the department would follow the rules in order to settle the tussle amicably, including consulting land records as part of the process.
We are aware of the fact that most public lands, especially those that are specifically intended for cattle dips, are being rampantly seized by individuals for their own personal gain.
The reason for this is that most of the facilities have been poorly managed.
It is our commitment as a county to work closely with the Department of Agriculture. This will ensure the safety of all government land used for cattle dips in our county.
This is to assure that markets and auction yards are safe” Said Mrs. Mutama.
Members of the public are now urged to bring these cases to the attention of her department in order to take the necessary action.
She further called on members of the public who illegally possess any public land to surrender it to the government voluntarily.
She revealed that her department would soon embark on a program that would see the repossession of all grabbed land.
She said people who are found guilty will be prosecuted.
