DP Rigathi Gachagua Meets Kericho County Leadership
Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday met the leadership of Kericho County.
who included Members of County Assembly, the Governor, the senator and the Woman Representative to resolve leadership wrangles in the assembly.
He said It is the President’s position that no meaningful development can take place in the atmosphere that has existed in Kericho.
“The President tasked me with the responsibility of inviting the leadership of the county for a meeting to sort out the issues with a view of restoring normalcy. The leaders unanimously agreed to amicably resolve all the issues and restore peace and normalcy in Kericho,” he said.
He noted that during the meeting, the leadership issues were resolved to the satisfaction of every member.
“The MCAs have agreed to unite and work as a team for the sake of peace and development of the Kericho County residents.,” he added.
They have elected new assembly leadership with Kimasian Ward MCA Philip Rono as Majority Leader, deputised by Fancy Chepkorir Korir (Nominated), Seretut-Cheptororiet MCA Aaron Rotich as Majority Whip deputised by Bervina Serem (Nominated).
All the county’s MCAs, Governor Dr. Eric Mutai, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot Woman Rep Hon. Beatrice Kemei, Assembly Speaker Patrick Mutai and UDA Secretary General Ms. Veronica Maina were present.
The representatives who have been previously aggrieved over the positions agreed to drop the cases in court and support the leaders elected yesterday.
