Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Declares War on ‘Koroga’ Illicit Brew
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr.Edison Nyale has put on notice those involved in the sale and manufacture of illicit brew dubbed ‘Koroga’
Speaking to the press Nyale said those who will be found selling or consuming the illegal liquor will face the full force of the law.
“This alcohol is created in a certain procedure whereby a substance in a powder form is mixed with water and reacts in about 7 minutes. After its reactions it causes more harm than good to the consumer and I will not allow such to happen under my watch “, he said.
He called on residents to act as their watchdog by reporting those selling illegal liquor and promised to take stern action against them.
“So far we have done operations at Huruma, Spain, and Langas Kingongo, the operation will continue until cases of illegal illicit alcohol are a thing of the past. I am also calling on residents to help us with information about those involved in the sale of illegal alcohol and we Promise to take illegal actions against them,” the County commissioner added.
He called on youths engaging in illegal alcohol to look for alternative jobs such as farming which will help them earn a living.
“Youths are strong enough to start up various productive businesses. Agriculture is so productive, our youths should focus in that area since it will enable them to earn their own money instead of snatching that which does not belong to them.” Said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
He further assured those working in the market at Kimumu that security will be improved for them to run their business smoothly.
“We will ensure more street lights and police officers are located within that market so no one will have to fear anymore,” he said.
The county commissioner has also asked those who had not registered for the free fertilizer being given by the Chief where registration is going on.
