The exercise of admitting junior Secondary school students in Uasin Gishu County is going as planned this is according to Uasin Gishu County Director of education Muriuki Harrison.

He says over 50 percent of students have reported.

“The exercise of admitting grade seven students are going in well and so far we have admitted almost 50 percent of students,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.

He spoke to the press after visiting Hill School, Langas, and Sosiani Primary schools where the exercise was going on as planned.

“As you can see there are some students with new uniforms while others with old ones from the previous schools. No child whatsoever should be sent home due to lack of uniform or fees every child no matter his or her financial background should be admitted,” said the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education.
He further decried the low turnout of students, especially in public schools.
“In schools like Langas and Sosiani primary there has been a low turnout of students this is because most of them traveled upcountry and have no fare to come back. I want to give a stern warning to such parents that they should allow their children to go to school failure to which they will face the full force of the law,” said Harrison.

“Parents should not get worried since everything is paid by the government, even if your child does not have a uniform let him or her come to school and no one will be sent home,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.
Hill School Primary School principal Hesborn Ngaira said the school has admitted over 200 students since the exercise started.
“Since the exercise began we have so far admitted two hundred students, the main challenge we are having is an infrastructure where we were supposed to have 320 students but the way things are we will have more than that,” he said
Brian Kinyua a student from Sosiani Primary says “Am happy to be in secondary happy and have a new school uniform I promise to work hard and be a better person in the future,”
