Governor Otuoma Hands Over 3.2 Million Van to Youth Group

Busia governor Dr. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma has handed over Kshs. 3.2 million van to youth group based in Marachi slums in Busia town.

The group, Marachi Boys, which was previously associated with all manner of evils, is now transformed and are working closely with National and County Governments to empower its members and the residents of the Marachi slums.

“Today we are here to make history, as we hand over this vehicle to you, organize yourselves and register groups, have the necessary documents and you will benefit from the 30% of the tenders set aside for the youth and women,” Dr. Otuoma said.

The Permanent Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) Hon. Susan Mang’eni, said she appreciated Governor’s initiative and congratulated the ‘jobless’ for accepting to change and work closely with the government.

“Let us work together to change the state of Busia because the poverty index in Busia stands at 83% and through funds like hustler funds, there are opportunities for economic empowerment,” She revealed.

She highlighted many available opportunities which she will soon avail to the people of Busia inorder to reduce the levels of poverty in the county.

The vehicle was purchased through the support of Dr. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma, Deputy Governor, Arthur Odera, Speaker, Hon. Fredrick Odilo and area MCA, Hon. Tony Opondo.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, County Commissioner, Mr. Kipchumba Ruto, County Assembly Speaker Fredrick Odilo, Women Representative Catherine Omanyo, County Executive Committee Members, Chief officers and Members of County Assembly among others
