UDA Supporters To Storm Raila’s Karen Home On Monday
UDA Sec-Gen Malala said he will personally lead party supporters to Raila Odinga’s Karen home.
He further asked Mr. Odinga’s wife Ida to prepare enough tea and fish “during our visit.”
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has announced elaborate plans to counter the planned mass action organized by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga on Monday.
The plan, according to UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala, includes marching to Mr. Odinga’s Karen residence while he will be leading his own supporters to State House.
Malala said he will personally lead UDA supporters to Karen, asking the opposition leader’s wife Ida Odinga to prepare enough tea and fish “during our visit to her house on Monday.”
“As you do what you are calling peaceful demonstrations to State House, we shall also be doing peaceful demonstrations to your home,” said Malala on Saturday.
The UDA Secretary General was speaking at the Machakos University amphitheatre during a conference with Machakos County party delegates to sensitise them on the forthcoming grassroots elections.
He assured the opposition leader that the government will provide him with enough security officers during the demonstrations, but reminded him that State House is a protected area and therefore a no go zone.
Malala cautioned the former premier against allowing his supporters to engage in violence and destruction of property.
He went ahead to assure UDA supporters countrywide that the forthcoming party grassroots elections will be free and fair devoid of what he called dark-suited political brokers.
He said those seeking county positions will have to be elected right from the electoral polling stations level, adding that it is the desire of party leader and President William Ruto to make UDA a national party that is inclusive of all communities.
He announced that party registration will be done both manually and digitally and encouraged as many people as possible to join the ruling political outfit.
